ETERNAL SPRING
2026, Gallery A.T. 108
Eternal Spring is a body of work that evokes sensual nature, energy, and renewal.
At thirteen, in 1978, I was selected to go on a school trip to China. Three teachers and thirteen children went for twenty-one days. We saw major historic landmarks: fantastic. We were invited into factories to witness artisans crafting rugs, shoes, pots, and clothing. Artisans using the ancient craft of calligraphy and brush work copied scrolls. The immediacy of the brush with ink on paper was mesmerizing. Blooms of ink appeared and landscapes emerged from the tiniest movements and confident strokes of the artisans.
I took those visual memories home, along with the brushes and ink. My work today combines lyrical calligraphic brush work with color blooms to form intricate imaginary worlds. From this practice, the viscosity of oil painting allows a deeper exploration of mood and color. The oil paintings in this collection demonstrate a maturity of composition and palette which evoke atmospheric and contemplative worlds.
